Who we are

Many years ago, my grandfather was in the hospital after an age-related heart attack, dying of starvation. He just wouldn’t eat… I went home, made his favorite thing in the whole world (chocolate chip cookies), and took them back to the hospital in an insulated carrier to keep them warm for the 30-minute drive. Long story short (the long is better, but you only have so much time), he ate them. His cardiologist pulled me aside and told me that my chocolate chip cookies had quite literally saved his life. And there you have it… my belief that cookies really do make a difference in our lives.

Fast-forward probably fifteen years or more… I was really wanting to play a little in the kitchen and had fallen in love with a large cookie that’s not available here in Michigan. I wondered if I could turn my chocolate chip cookie recipe (which I’d developed myself) into something bigger, quite literally. That’s where it truly started.

I gave 120 people gifts of a half-pound cookie for Christmas that year and they started begging me to sell them. I thought I really couldn’t. I thought people wouldn’t want them. Then more people had them and asked about buying them… and it continued. And here we are today.

I bake in my Sylvan Lake, Michigan home for fun. I love what I do. I love to create. But most of all I honestly love the smile I see when people bite into my cookies. We use all pasteurized ingredients, then bake them just to the point of still being gooey (can you imagine biting into a cookie that big that’s crumbly?!) so they’re still totally safe to consume even a little bit gooey and undercooked.
